About Commonwealth Properties
For over 25 years Commonwealth Properties has been developing and acquiring multifamily properties throughout the Southeast. From acquisition, design and construction, to long-term asset management, we pride ourselves on delivering our residents and our investors the very best in quality.
In contrast to other developers who may have ten projects running at a time, we prefer to concentrate on only a select few developments each year. It’s a unique perspective that enables us to take a more hands-on role when it comes to delivering on our design and investment plan.
Commonwealth Properties is devoted to being a responsible steward of the land that we own and develop. We have found that an open and honest dialogue serves to illuminate development options that are embraced by all stakeholders in our projects. These conversations produce developments that complement the existing environment and communities in which we operate.

Steve Middleton | Partner
Steve Middleton founded Commonwealth Properties in 1998 to develop and acquire residential properties throughout the Southeast. His mission for the company was to provide the highest quality services to the residents and investors we serve. Over the last 25+ years, Steve has fulfilled this mission across several market cycles and many different investment types. Steve is one of two Partners that oversees all major investment and strategic decision making. Prior to Commonwealth, Steve worked as a real estate lawyer at King & Spalding and as a commercial and multifamily developer.

Jack Middleton | President, Partner
As President Jack is responsible for sourcing and execution of development projects, asset management for Commonwealth Properties’ portfolio of stabilized, owned assets, and operation of the day-to-day business of Commonwealth Properties. Alongside Steve, Jack is one of two Partners that oversees all major investment and strategic decision making. Prior to Commonwealth, Jack was a Vice President with Lincoln Property Company, now Willow Bridge, one of the largest multifamily investment firms in the U.S., and was responsible for development of all multifamily assets from North Carolina to New Jersey.
